There
are two primary types of disposal sites:
Sanitary:
Basically this is for garbage. All of the Front and Rear Load
trucks use this landfill type, and any Roll-Off loads that have
anything other than construction debris use this disposal also.
The sanitary landfill is lined to keep the fill out of the water
stream. Taking loads into a sanitary landfill requires paying
by the ton for disposal. A typical load from a Rear Load truck
is about 10-15 tons when the truck is packed full. Since the sanitary
landfills are closed in the Cleveland area, the garbage is taken
to a Transfer Station where our trucks are emptied into a warehouse,
and then the garbage is loaded onto open-top semi trailers and
transported down I-77 to the Canton area landfills. Sanitary landfills
do not accept tires, liquids such as paint or any hazardous materials.
Metro Cleveland primarily uses such transfer stations while the
Canton Division hauls the waste directly to the landfills.
C&D:
Construction and Demolition material. This is different landfill
type and several exist around the Cleveland area. Any Roll-Off
loads with 100% building material from construction jobs, roofers,
etc. go to this type of landfill and pay by the cubic yard. They
will not accept any loads that are half construction material
and half garbage (furniture, clothes, trash). This is a mixed
load that would have to go to the transfer station and paid for
by the ton.
Other
Disposal:
Concrete:
We can accept loads of 100% concrete in Roll-Off for recycling.
Because of the weights we will never put a box larger than a 20
cubic yard for concrete hauling.
Pallets:
We can accept loads of 100% pallets. The pallets are shred to
make mulch. We put out 30 yd or 40 yd containers for hauling pallets.
Cardboard:
We can set up Rear-Load and Front Load containers for collection
of cardboard. Larger volumes of cardboard can be bailed or compacted,
and may allow a company to get free disposal or possibly some
money back when the cardboard market is doing well.
Manifested
Loads: A manufacturing facility that has large quantities
of powders, grit, sediment, etc. that is the result of, say, their
manufacturing process, we can haul this type of waste as long
as it is non-hazard. Prior to giving the customer a container,
some documents need to be filled out and sent to the landfill
for an approval number. In some cases the material may need to
be tested to determine its chemical make-up. Once approved a manifest
would travel with the load after being signed off by the customer,
driver and landfill.
